Salary: $100,741 - $109,807 plus super (dependant on skills and experience)
Hours: Up to 35 per week (Part time and/or flexible work arrangements available)
This role is about the balance between consequence and likelihood while also being the translator between the practical operational side of running a city and the protection we need to mitigate risks.
Who Are We Looking for?
We are looking for an inquisitive person who is interested in the big picture and can think about the knock on effects of business decisions. This is more than just safety, this is about financial, environmental, reputational, legal and strategic risks. You might not have a lot of experience in all of these areas, but you will have an ability to learn, an open approach, communication skills and be able to guide team members through complex issues and help make risk assessment manageable.
Key Responsibilities
As Risk Lead, you’ll be the driving force behind Council’s risk and business continuity frameworks. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, provide expert advice, and lead initiatives that embed a culture of proactive risk awareness and strategic thinking. Your work will directly influence Council’s ability to deliver safe, effective, and sustainable services to the Orange community.
- Develop and implement enterprise risk and business continuity strategies
- Maintain and enhance Council’s risk management systems
- Advise stakeholders and lead risk-related training and engagement
- Report to senior leadership and the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee

What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated relevant extensive experience
- Knowledge of ISO31000:2018 and relevant legislation
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead change and deliver strategic outcomes
