The Role:
The Sustainability Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the Sustainability Officer to deliver Orange City Council’s strategic and operational sustainability objectives. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on clear, impactful communication and can engage diverse audiences to drive positive environmental outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the delivery of sustainability and climate programs across Council operations and the community
- Communicating sustainability concepts in a clear, engaging way to staff, stakeholders, and the public
- Supporting investigations and implementation of water, waste, and energy efficiency initiatives
- Facilitating collaboration across Council divisions, government agencies, and the public on environmental matters
- Supporting the management and delivery of sustainability projects, education programs, and behaviour change initiatives
- Providing administrative and stakeholder support to the Environmental Sustainability Community Committee
- Assisting in the development of sustainability policies, procedures, and strategies aligned with Ecologically Sustainable Development principles

About You:
We’re looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with exceptional communication and facilitation skills. You’ll be confident in engaging diverse community stakeholders and translating sustainability goals into practical, inspiring messages.
You will also have:
- Diploma qualifications in Science, Education, Project Management or similar
- Relevant experience in a similar role
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and educate
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
- Current Drivers Licence
