The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our IT Operations team.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, support and improvement of Council’s core infrastructure and Microsoft 365 environment. Working closely with the Senior Systems Administrator and IT Operations Team Leader, you will play a key role in maintaining reliable, secure and modern technology platforms that support Council staff and services.

What You’ll Be Doing
•    Support, administer and improve Council’s infrastructure and Microsoft 365 platforms
•    Assist with the delivery of Council’s infrastructure strategy and technology roadmap
•    Administer and support Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, Exchange Online, Group Policy and Microsoft Teams
•    Support virtualised and cloud environments across VMware and Azure / AWS
•    Provide high level technical support and escalation for complex infrastructure issues
•    Act as an escalation point for the Helpdesk and contribute to service quality improvements
•    Participate in on call and out of hours support as required

Cyber security responsibilities are embedded across all duties, including ensuring systems are securely configured, patched and monitored; managing access controls; supporting incident response activities; and contributing to Council’s cyber risk reduction and alignment with recognised frameworks such as the Essential Eight.

What You’ll Bring
• 
   IT qualifications or significant equivalent experience in a systems administration role
•    Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 and Windows infrastructure
•    Experience with cloud and virtual platforms (VMware, Azure and/or AWS)
•    Solid troubleshooting skills, networking fundamentals and a security-conscious approach
