About Central West Libraries
Central West Libraries is a regional library services located across the Central Tablelands and Western Slopes of NSW. Established in 1958 the Library encompasses the Local Government areas of Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Weddin and Orange. The Libraries support and administrative units are located in the Orange City Library building. The Library service covers an area of 18,772 square km and serves a population of 91,857.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Community Recreation and Cultural Services, this role will be responsible for the management of Central West Libraries, consisting of 8 branches, and Council’s Community Museums and Heritage programs. This includes:
- Providing strategic leadership and direction to Central West Libraries on behalf the participating Councils (Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes and Orange)
- Leading and promoting a strong customer service culture
- Interacting with the wider community across the Central West Libraries footprint
- Developing and maintaining sound planning, financial and service models
- Identifying and exploring collaborative opportunities for the Community Museums and Heritage programs

So, what do you need?
- Extensive experience in providing strategic leadership, influencing and leading change and establishing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Excellent people and communication skills particularly in building and sustaining relationships, team building and collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to nurture high team performance with the ability to guide, coach, mentor and develop staff
- High level awareness of current trends and issues in the Library and Information and an ongoing commitment to professional development
- Degree or post graduate qualifications in Library and Information Science or equivalent providing eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Class C Drivers Licence and the ability to travel up to 1.5 hours each way to attend branch libraries as required
- Satisfactory Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain before starting)
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
