Are you passionate about creating safe, supportive and practical workplaces? Orange City Council is looking for a WHS Advisor to provide work health and safety advice, coaching and support across Council divisions, helping our people work safely and confidently while delivering services for the Orange community.

About the role

In this role you will be a trusted first point of contact for safety matters within allocated Council divisions. You will provide practical, business-focused WHS advice and support to managers, staff, contractors and volunteers, supporting the effective use of Council’s WHS systems, policies and procedures.

You will contribute to workplace inspections, audits, incident and hazard investigations, contractor safety management including SWMS review and induction requirements, emergency preparedness, wellbeing initiatives, and recover at work processes.

About you

  • Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Qualifications in WHS audit and return to work (or the ability to obtain)
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, standards and safety management systems.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A current Driver’s Licence.
  • A General Construction Induction Card (White Card), or the ability to obtain.
